Split Ends
The tip of an individual’s hair which has split due to lack of hair or hair naturally fraying.
Stitch Braids
This is a technique of braiding which was derived from cornrows. They are done by dividing the hair into a few lines down the head
Sulphate Free
This phrase refers to the lack of sulphates in hair cleansing products. Sulfate-free cleansers retain the natural oils on the scalp and hair when washed, which therefore leaves the hair with more moisture.
Swiss Lace
This is a type of material used in the making of closures and frontals. It is a fine material that is soft and delicate. It is used to create a better blend with the skin for a less visible appearance when worn.

This is a haircut done by reducing the thickness of the hair towards the end. In other words, going from thick at the roots to thin at the ends.

This is a hair straightening method designed to go deep into the hair fibers and in turn enable styling versatility.

This is the process of colouring the lace on a closure or frontal to give it a more natural look.
Traction Alopecia
A form of alopecia or gradual loss of hair which is typically caused by pulling force being applied to the hair.
Transitioning Hair
The process of growing out the natural texture of hair before cutting off the processed or damaged ends.

Braids, where the scalp parting is in the shape of a triangle
Trichologist
A person who specialises in the treatment of hair and scalp problems. For Example, alopecia.
TWA
This is an abbreviation for the term “Teeny Weeny Afro ”. This is used to describe the stage at which a person transitions from relaxed to natural hair. The first step to wearing your natural curls.

U-Part Wig
This is a type of wig that is shaped in the form of a U. It is sewn on a U part cap with clips and adjustable straps around the perimeter. U part wigs require a small portion of hair being left out to cover the top.

This is a method used for dyeing hair extensions/wigs. It involves the use of hot water with a mixture of hair dye.
